India, Ladakh-Zanskar-Kashmir (10 agosto - 4 settembre 2009)

Just arrived back from Delhi, we are very glad to share some video clip of the entire trip in Ladakh, Zanskar and Srinagar (Kashmir). Just follow the links given below:

A sintetic summary of what we did...
After a pretty confortable (and very cheap!) Finnair flight via Henlsinki from Milano, we landed ontime in Delhi, trasferred to Domestic Terminal just in time to catch the Kingfisher flight to Leh. Stayed in Ladakh 1 week, visiting the sites missed last year, like Hemis, Stakna and Taktok Gonpa, all by public minibus of course, and roaming in the old Leh city, enjoying the bakeries around the Mosque... just relaxing and get proper aclimatization in few words.
Moved then to Kargil by share jeep (500 Rps), we were lucky to find at once a share jeep to Padum (not cheap, 1500 Rps!) thanks to the ladakhi guy we met there. Once in Padum, we experienced a 5 days hike to Phugtal Gonpa hiring 2 horses and the horseman (alias the cook, alias the guide) for 600 Rps/day. Since he was not speaking english but some basic words, we learned some ladakhi before... :-)
Stayed 2 nights in the new Phugtal Guest House, run by the friendly monks, we shared lunch and lots of gurgurcha (butter salted tea) with them, simply enjoying the amazing place. Visited Karsha and Stongde Gonpa as well, by walking or getting lift in (though rare) local vehicles, the monks here are very different than in the touristic Ladakh, we were usual to be offered some tea or food.
After leaving Zanskar Valleys, preparing for winter and isolation, we reached Kargil by bus (15 h) and headed southwards to Srinagar, Kashmir, by share jeep (500 Rps, 7 h). We spent 4 days in a wonderful superdeluxe cat. A houseboat on the Dal Lake at a very cheap rate (write to me, I will recommend you to the owner!) because in Leh we came to know the owner, managing a shop in Fort Rd. (he liked my hunter's cap and I gave it to him as present!). It was a very pleasant stay after an exhausting trip in and out Zanskar, relaxing by shikara ride on the Lake, enjoying the markets, the foods, the houseboat with its gorgeous wood carvings inside and the absolute cleaness of every room (just watch the video!!!).
I'd like to thank again Prof. Rafi, the owner, Mr. Irfan, his son, and Akbar, the serviceman. We will repeat the experience next year defintely...
[ For anyone who intend to stay some days in Srinagar and get in touch with reliable people, just write to me to get the contact references! ]
After a Goair flight to Delhi (2h delay!!!), a refreshing heavy monsoon rain and a very pleasant backflight by Finnar, we are now sitting in front of the pc, facing the routine... For now it's all, enjoy the videos and email us to get further infos if needed.

Trekking alla Punta del Frejus (2934 m), sopra Bardonecchia, in una giornata di tempo uggioso e molto variabile, vento a tratti forte e un po' di pioggia... Kinnaur e Spiti, India (7 agosto - 5 settembre 2007)

Per chi fosse interessato ad intraprendere un viaggio nel Kinnaur e nello Spiti, possiamo dare tutti i riferimenti del caso, considerando che, per molti luoghi visitati l'immancabile Lonely Planet (India del Nord, ed. 2006) è assolutamente INUTILE.
Durante il viaggio abbiamo conosciuto due guide locali indipendenti (Negi, originario del Kinnaur, e Lara, nativo dello Spiti), che consigliamo vivamente di contattare direttamente (scrivetemi) piuttosto che mettersi nelle mani di una qualsiasi agenzia.
